Adding Role Configurations to our Auth0 Account

Tip: Don't forget to save the settings page after enabling RBAC in Auth0!

In a previous lesson, we covered the steps to create an Auth0 account and set up an API. Using the same account, add roles and permissions.

Create roles for your API and assign them to users!

Task List:

Open Auth0 Dashboard and Navigate to the API settings screen.

Create new permissions within the permissions tab

Navigate to the Roles screen and define a new role

Assign your newly created API permissions to the role

Navigate to the API Settings screen and turn on enable RBAC and Add Permission in the Access Token settings

Assign the role to a user in your auth system

Login through your hosted login screen and decode the token using JWT.io
